Why am I asked to type character string verification on my yahoo email account?

I am a little confused as to why this has happened. Since a couple of days ago, every time I want to send an email to anyone I am being asked to type what I see in the image(character string verification." Below the image it says, "This step helps Yahoo! prevent spammers from using AT%26amp;T Yahoo! Mail, and helps to ensure that your email will be delivered."

Can any one help.

Thank you

This is a safety feature to stop spam, and to make sure you are a real human being. If an outgoing E-mail has the look of spam, this screen shows. If you are an automated spammer, you cannot read and copy the character string, if you are human, you can.
Reply:It's an UNBEARABLY BAD feature and should be eliminated. IT HAS TO GO. NOBODY is going to use an email system that makes them jump through hoops like this every time they want to hit SEND on a message. They've taken the BEST EMAIL SYSTEM out there and rendered it completely disfunctional. WHY? Report Abuse

Reply:It's an anti spam measure that Yahoo are trying out to make sure it is a person sending the mail not a bot.. I am very curious as to why they are going to these lengths though. It would suggest that they are aware of some serious bot spammers infiltrating Yahoo Answers. We will have to wait and see how long it continues.
