Haw many MB can be sent through my email?

I'm trying to send photo's in a compressed file at roughly 8-9 MB and they won't send.
Haw many MB can be sent through my email?
If I were you, I would re-try as I myself had problems with this thing once or twice...perseverence is good...if not, you should try sending them over Yahoo! Messenger :) that should help.
